"Normandie" alongside a 28mm figure.

(Painted by Troop of Shrewe)
The Char FCM 2C was designed for the planned 1919 offensive against the Germans. The Armistice in 1918 meant that the initial order for 700 was cancelled, and only 10 were completed. At 68 tonnes, these were the largest tanks of their day, with a 75mm gun in the main turret, and 4 machine guns mounted in a rear turret and the hull. They were designed as char de rupture- "breakthrough tanks", and were formed into the super heavy 511eme regiment in 1936. In 1940, 2 were mothballed, and the remaining 8 were sent to the front. 2 of these suffered mechanical or electrical failure, and the remaining 6 were placed on a train for movement to the disintegrating frontline on 13th June. German bombing of the railway system saw them trapped on their special wagons, with no means to remove them. The unfortunate 6 were scuttled in situ. The 2 breakdowns were also scuttled by their crews. How effective they would have been in action is a mystery. The 75mm gun would certainly have been more than a match for any existing German tank, and the armour was fairly substantial for the time. They were however an outdated design, and their size would have made them easier targets for air and artillery attack, if they did not suffer from mechanical failure first.
The models have been cast in resin, with metal MG fittings. The availability should be checked via email first, as these will be cast to order.
